Robert J. Herrington
Mr. Herrington, featured in the above photo with his daughter Angela (not an attorney), has practiced law in the Dallas area since 1994. He pursued undergraduate studies at the University of Louisiana and graduated from LSU's Paul M. Hebert Law School in 1985.
Before attending law school, Mr. Herrington's work experience included service as an English teacher in France and as an electronics technician on offshore oil rigs. During law school, Mr. Herrington served as research assistant to the late Professor Saul Litvinoff, Center of Civil Law Studies at LSU. After graduating from law school, Mr. Herrington worked as a law clerk to judges for the Louisiana Court of Appeal and for the United States Bankruptcy Court.
In his seven years at the Federal Public Defender's Office in Dallas, Mr. Herrington acquired extensive experience in every kind of federal criminal case, including "white-collar," drug, firearms, and deportation-related cases. In 2005, he established his private practice, defending not only federal criminal cases but also felony, misdemeanor, and traffic-related cases in courthouses throughout the Dallas area.
Since obtaining his law license in 1985, Mr. Herrington has regularly consulted with and represented individuals charged with traffic citations in Dallas as well as municipal and courts throughout Texas and Louisiana, obtaining a dismissal of speeding charges for one of his very first clients.
Mr. Herrington speaks Spanish and has received advanced training in Spanish legal interpretation at the University of Arizona's Agnese Haury Insitute for Interpretation. He is also a contract interpreter for the United States Probation Office for the Eastern District of Texas.
Mr. Herrington is board certified in criminal law since 2008 and is a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
