Mr. Herrington, featured in the above photo with his daughter Angela (who is not an attorney), has practiced law in the Dallas area since 1994. He pursued undergraduate studies at the University of Louisiana and graduated from LSU's Paul M. Hebert Law School in 1985.

Before attending law school, Mr. Herrington's work experience included service as an English teacher in Nîmes, France and as a radio electronics technician on offshore oil rigs. His decision to enroll in law school was cemented as he affixed an antenna to a swaying tower atop an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

During law school, Mr. Herrington served as research and French translation assistant to the distinguished Professor Saul Litvinoff, Director, Center of Civil Law Studies at LSU. After graduating from law school, Mr. Herrington worked as a law clerk to judges for the Louisiana Court of Appeal and for the United States Bankruptcy Court.

In April, 1990, Mr. Herrington took second prize in the American Bankruptcy Institute's First Annual Writing Contest, a national competition to foment scholarship in the area of American bankruptcy law. His award winning paper called for increases in debt limits for individuals filing for bankruptcy under Chapter 13 of the Bankruptcy Code.

In his seven years at the Federal Public Defender's Office, Mr. Herrington acquired extensive experience in virtually every kind of federal criminal case, including numerous "white-collar," drug, and deportation-related cases. In 2005, he established his own private practice, defending not only federal criminal cases but also felony and misdemeanor cases in the local state criminal courthouses.

In every single year since his graduation from law school in 1985, Mr. Herrington has consulted regularly with aliens (non-U.S. citizens) regarding the immigration consequences of crimes and how to avoid deportation. In many cases, Mr. Herrington has fought deportation proceedings for his clients at the administrative level, at trial, and on appeal.

Mr. Herrington speaks Spanish and has received advanced training in Spanish legal interpretation at the University of Arizona's Agnese Haury Insitute for Interpretation. He is also a contract interpreter for the United States Probation Office for the Eastern District of Texas.

Mr. Herrington is board certified in criminal law since 2008 and is a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.

In addition to practicing law, he enjoys playing guitar and singing at area retirement centers.
