Assault
Stress, jealousy, resentment, or pressure – either social or professional – can combine to provoke anger and even loss of self control. Unfortunately, verbal arguments at times escalate and become physical. From there, it is just a few steps before the police are called and someone is arrested and charged with assault. What started as an exchange of a few heated words has turned into an arrest, a trial, and a possible criminal record and jail time.
In Texas, an assault is punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.00.
Attorney Rob Herrington has won several courtroom victories fighting assault cases. (See “results” tab on this website.) Why not allow him to study your case to see what defenses may be available to you? Who started the argument? Were you acting in self-defense? Is the “victim” exaggerating the injury? Is he or she motivated to lie about you? Do not plead guilty without first consulting an experienced professional who has actually won cases at trial. Do not accept a “quick and easy” plea bargain that may leave you with a permanent criminal record. You have rights. Do not let the state roll over you!
